As a future educator, I think it’s unwise to criticize on someone’s parenting style when a child isn’t being abused. There are plenty of ways to make something seem like emotional abuse, but you can’t really know this unless you know the child’s reaction and feelings, everything else is just assumption.

“He’s humiliating his daughter” Maybe, but didn’t she humiliate him? her mother? and Linda by calling her the “cleaning lady.” Are there no repercussions for showing disrespect? If her words offended and possibly hurt her father’s feelings, who knows what punishment will teach the lesson he wants her to learn?

“He invaded her privacy” If you want privacy, you shouldn’t post a public statement cursing about your parents. An anonymous tumblr blog would probably be a better place. So there is one lesson this girl, Hannah, might have learned. The internet is not private, EVERY person should learn this. I think learning that lesson because she shit talked her parents on the internet is better than learning this years later by trusting someone with a nude photo and then having it shared across the web. She’s learning how the internet relates to her personal life, whether it’s in a fashion you like or not.

I do not think Hannah is being abused, she is being loved. Her father wants her to grow up to be respectful, kind, grateful, loving, and hard working. These are his ideals, maybe not yours, and maybe not your approach, probably not mine, but his intentions are not malicious, they have clear intent to instill a sense of values into his child’s life.
